Strengthening Asian demand pushed U.S. copper scrap exports 8.1 percent higher in September.

Shipments of the red metal scrap to China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan all posted gains over August.

China (including Hong Kong) took 64,944 short tons of copper scrap from U.S. suppliers in September, accounting for 80.8 percent of total U.S. scrap exports of 80,355 tons, slightly higher than a 79.6-percent share of 74,309 tons exported in August.
