Horsehead slips $3.6M into red in 3d qtr.

Zinc recycler Horsehead Holding Corp. posted a $3.6-million net loss in the third quarter as sales sagged 44.8 percent to $60.3 million.

In the year-ago quarter, the company had recorded net income of $9.4 million on sales of $109.2 million.

Quarterly zinc shipments also sagged, tumbling 22.8 percent to 30,568 tons from 39,615 tons in the three months ended Sept. 30, 2008, with...
