Thomas J. Ferkany, Global Supply Mgr. Steel and Non-Ferrous Products, Stanley Works

Diverse background offers him a unique perspective into buying steel products. 15 years of metal experience includes mill sales, distributor sales and now OEM purchasing.

Tom began his metals career in 1992 as a flat rolled salesman for the Rouge Steel Company (now Severstal NA) in Dearborn, Michigan. In eight years, Tom held various automotive sales and management positions at Rouge --- calling on the likes of Ford, Daimler Chrysler and major Tier 1 stampers.

In 2001 Tom joined Titan Steel, Baltimore, Maryland as General Manager Flat Rolled Products. Titan’s flat rolled distributor business sold processed steel products in the US (Midwest and East Coast) and Canada (Greater Toronto). At the same time Titan’s trading arm introduced Tom to the global import and export steel market place.

In September of 2005 Tom joined the Stanley Works in New Britain, Ct. in the Global Supply Group. His expertise today goes beyond procuring steel but also leading lean (cost out, reduction of lead-times, value stream mapping) functional teams and taking part in multiple due diligence projects. Tom holds an undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio.
