Steven J. Demetriou became chairman and chief executive officer of Aleris International, Inc. on December 9, 2004 following the merger of Commonwealth Industries, Inc. and IMCO Recycling Inc.
He was appointed president and chief executive officer of Commonwealth in June 2004 after serving as a member of that company's board of directors since 2002.
Before joining Commonwealth in 2004, Mr. Demetriou was president and chief executive officer of Noveon, Inc. a leading global producer of technologically advanced specialty chemicals for consumer and industrial applications with annual sales of over $2 billion. Prior to that, from 1999 to 2001 he was executive vice president of IMC Global Inc., a major producer and distributor of crop nutrients and animal feed ingredients to the domestic and international agricultural communities. He also served as president of IMC Crop Nutrients. From 1997 to 1999 Mr. Demetriou held various leadership positions with Cytec Industries Inc., including vice president, global specialty resins and president, Cytec Asia. From 1981 to 1997 he served in increasingly responsible management positions with Exxon Corporation.
Mr. Demetriou received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University.
David Abramson has been with the Bank Credit Analyst Research Group (www.bcaresearch.com) since 1987. He will soon launch a Commodity and Energy service, and is currently Chief Strategist and Managing Editor of China Investment Strategy, an institutional service dedicated to a wide variety of currency, economic and financial market issues. From 2000 to mid-2005, he originated and managed a European institutional service. For most of the 1990s, he was Managing Editor of the ForexCast, the currency advisory service of the Group, and also frequently contributed to the emerging market asset allocation service. He is widely quoted in the international financial media and lectures at institutional investor conferences around the world.
David has also been a part-time lecturer in international finance at McGill University since 1999, and sits on the Client Committee of the Kenneth Woods Portfolio Management Program at Concordia University. In 2005, he received the Prix Tremplin from the Association des MBA du Quebec for his contribution in professional services.
Previously, David worked in the international department of the Bank of Canada for three years modeling exchange rate and trade flows. He holds an MBA and MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago, as well as a MA degree in Economics from Carleton University.
Matthew Lerner joined American Metal Market in October 2005 and began by covering zinc and lead markets before moving to aliuminum in 2006. He also covers some minor metals for the paper, and past beats have included magnesium and tin markets. Lerner has almost 20 years of editorial experience with trade publications, local newspapers, in corporate communications, and as a freelancer.

Brian A. Habacivch is the Vice President – Consulting for Fellon-McCord & Associates, Inc. (Fellon-McCord) and is a Vice President for Constellation NewEnergy – Gas Division (CNEG).
In January of 2002, Mr. Habacivch joined Fellon-McCord & Associates, Inc., as Vice President Consulting Services. Mr. Habacivch is a member of the Fellon-McCord executive team, the editor-in-chief of Fellon-McCord publications and research, and works with a team of energy analysts in delivering value-added services to Fellon-McCord’s energy-intensive clients throughout North America.
Prior to joining Fellon-McCord, Mr. Habacivch had 14 years experience in the energy industry. In 1988, he became the Senior Associate Editor for Gas Daily and Gas Markets Week, two nationally recognized natural gas-industry publications. While at Gas Daily, Mr. Habacivch was responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly gas-price indices, coverage of the natural gas spot market, regulatory matters, and editorial content. After several years at Gas Daily, Mr. Habacivch went to work for Centran Corporation, a Louisville, KY-based natural gas marketing company where he was involved in industrial account sales and marketing. Mr. Habacivch then went to work for Sprague Energy Corp., a privately held energy marketing, petroleum and industrial-materials-handling company located in Portsmouth, NH, in the capacity of Manager, Natural Gas and Integrated Energy Marketing. For ten years at Sprague, Mr. Habacivch was responsible for the development of industrial-account natural gas marketing, major accounts, and was engaged in various aspects of liquid fuel marketing, project development, and acquisitions. Mr. Habacivch then worked for Allegheny Energy Solutions as Director, Northeast U.S. Region in a business development capacity.
Mr. Habacivch was born in Illinois, U.S., and studied liberal arts at the Pennsylvania State University and History at the University of South Carolina.

Prior to joining Apollo in 1998, Mr. Press was associated with the law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, specializing in mergers, acquisitions, restructurings and related financing transactions. From 1987 to 1989, Mr. Press was a consultant with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a management consulting firm focused on corporate strategy.
Mr. Press serves on the Board of Trustees of the Rodeph Sholom School in New York City.
He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College with an A.B. in Economics, and from Yale Law School, where he was a Senior Editor of the Yale Law Review.
Chief Executive Officer Mike Tanchuk, Ormet Corporation, assumed his position at the helm just last month. Mike has a long and successful history with broad experience in the metals industry. He began his career in a variety of positions at Inland Steel Company in East Chicago, Ind., and worked his way through a number of management positions, first with Reynolds Metals Company and then with Alcoa. While at the latter, he served as president of the Alcoa, Primary Business Unit (Northwest Region), Ferndale, Wash. Through hard work and determination, he was able to reopen Intalco and set up Wenatchee for a later restart.
Just prior to joining Ormet, Mr. Tanchuk served as vice president and managing director of Century Aluminum and Nordural in Grundartangi, Iceland. In this role, he was responsible for operations and expansion of the 260,000 tonnes smelter and also technology of the planned Greenfield smelter in Helguvik. Mr. Tanchuk joined Century Aluminum of Kentucky as vice president in 2004, where he was responsible for financial and safety results at their smelting operation, which employed 760 people. While there, he achieved record safety, profit and production performances.
Mr. Tanchuk is a Bucknell University graduate, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He also completed an executive business program at the University of Washington.

Craig Colyer joined O’Neal Steel as the National Manager of Stainless & Aluminum in 2005. Responsibilities are focused on strategic growth and profit initiatives of non -ferrous products for the nation’s largest family owned metals service center.
Craig Colyer has been employed in the metals industry for 24 years with a variety of ecommerce, commercial, marketing and material management experiences with Ryerson, Metalspectrum, US Steel, Straightline and Taylor Steel.
Craig has a BA in Government and Economics from Dartmouth College and resides in Birmingham Alabama with wife Brenda and three children.
A certified association executive since 1975, George K. Eliades, is the Chief Executive Officer of the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA). He is also an ASAE Key Award Winner. The coveted ASAE Key Award is the highest and most prestigious honor bestowed upon association CEOs by the American Society of Association Executives for outstanding leadership.
George has achieved additional impressive success as an association chief staff executive including a Silver Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America and an I-Can Flag from the White House Office of Private Sector Initiatives. He has demonstrated the skills, ethics and experience necessary to provide effective leadership and has strengthened ARA in elevating automotive recycling upward and forward. Brian A. Johnson joined Lehman Brothers in 2006 and is currently a managing director and senior stock analyst following the U.S. auto and auto parts sector. In 2006, his first year as a sell-side analyst, Brian ranked second in the quality index in the auto category of the Greenwich Associates Survey. Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Brian was a senior analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein. Brian moved to equity research after an 18-year career in management consulting, in which he was a principal at McKinsey and a partner at Accenture. In his consulting career, Brian worked on turnaround and growth strategies across several industries, including health care, financial services, and industrial. In 2004, he published "Mass Affluence" (Harvard Business School Press), which was selected by Soundview as one of the 30 outstanding business books of the year.

Lloyd A. “Buddy” Stemple is Vice President and General Manager of the North American Specialty Products Group for Novelis Inc., a global leader in aluminum rolling and recycling. The Specialty Products group serves a variety of markets including automotive, transportation, building and construction, industrial and many distribution segments. The business has operations in Oswego, NY, and Kingston, Ont., with sales offices in Cleveland and Detroit.
Mr. Stemple has been with Novelis (previously Alcan) since 1983 holding various managerial positions in engineering, human resources, operations, and sales and marketing. Prior to his most recent appointment in 2004, he was the Works Manager in Oswego, NY -- the largest manufacturing facility in the Novelis system.
Mr. Stemple is chairman of the Sheet and Plate Committee of the U.S. Aluminum Association, an executive member of the Association’s Auto and Light Truck Group, and a member of the Board of Directors for Pathfinder Bank Holding Company in New York.
Mr. Stemple holds MBA and B.Sc. degrees from West Virginia University, a Masters degree in International Management from McGill University in Montreal, and a diploma from INSEAD in France. Mr. Stemple resides in Oswego, NY, with his wife Carol and their two children.
Subodh K. Das is the President and CEO of Secat Inc., Director for the Center for Aluminum Technology, Executive Director for the Sloan Industry “Center for a Sustainable Aluminum Industry, and Adjunct Professor of Mechanical, Chemical and Materials Engineering, all at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky.
Before founding Secat in 1999, Subodh served as the Vice President of Technology and Quality for ARCO Aluminum, Inc. in Louisville, Kentucky. Subodh started his career in the aluminum industry as a research scientist at ALCOA research center in 1974.
Subodh obtained his M. Tech. (Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India ---1971) and Ph.D. (The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA--1974), both in Metallurgical Engineering. He also obtained his MBA at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA in 1982. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the States of Kentucky and Pennsylvania, USA.
He has served as the Chairman of Minerals, Metals & Materials Society’s Light Metals Division and well as a Board of Director. He has also served as the Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Aluminum Association. The American Society of Metals elected Subodh as an ASM Fellow in 2002.
Subodh holds 20 US Patents, has edited 8 books and has also published over 30 papers in areas of aluminum technology and business analysis.
Ronald J. Epstein joined Merrill Lynch in 2001 as an industry analyst in the Aerospace and Defense sector. He is currently the senior Aerospace and Defense Analyst for the Americas.
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Ron was a research scientist working in the Applied Aerodynamics Technology Group at the Boeing Phantom Works. During that time, he was also an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, where he taught courses on Fluid Dynamics and Control Systems.
He placed second in the 2005 Institutional Investor Latin America Research team survey for his coverage of the Latin America Aerospace and Transport sector.

Tom Akers is currently Executive Vice President of Metal Exchange Corporation, which is headquarted in St Louis, Missouri. He has been with Metal Exchange Corporation for 12 years. He was previously with Alusuisse subsidiary, Consolidated Aluminum Corporation for 13 years where he was a Vice President of Metal Supply and General Manager of their Recycling Division. He held various positions with Kaiser Aluminum Corporation early in his career.
Tom is a graduate of Harvard University’s Business School’s Advanced Management Program and holds MBA and Bachelor Degrees from Southeastern Louisiana University.
Metal Exchange Corporation is a diversified non-ferrous metals manufacturing and marketing company, which is active in aluminum, copper, magnesium and zinc. MEC has ownership of 7 manufacturing facilities, as well as two scrap processing facilities and their own trucking company. In addition to St Louis, they have multiple offices throughout the United States and Europe and are actively conducting business in 22 countries. Metal Exchange Corporation is the exclusive North American Agent for Dubai Aluminum Ltd (DUBAL), Rio Tinto Aluminium and Comphania Alumino de Brazilia (CBA) for billet into the US and Canada.
Sammy Peek is the Director of Marketing and New Product Development with JW Aluminum, a leading producer of specialty flat-rolled aluminum products. He has been employed by JW Aluminum, based in Mt. Holly, South Carolina, for the past 26 years in various positions.
Mr. Peek started in the technical department as QC technician and associate metallurgist but has spent the last 19 years in sales and marketing. He also serves as the Chairman of the Foil Division of the Aluminum Association.

Craig R. Werner is the President of Werner Extrusion Solutions LLC and Chairman of the Aluminum Extruders Council.
AEC & Extrusion Focus
In 1983 Craig accepted a position as Project Manager to spearhead the design, implementation, startup and operation of Werner Co's. Franklin Park, Illinois extrusion mill. Due to the company's extraordinary support of the Aluminum Extruders' Council and the Extrusion Technology for Aluminum Profiles Foundation (ET) events, they had access to and were able to base their designs on information gleaned from the best extrusion personnel and technology from around the world. The facility began production in July of 1985 with Craig as Extrusion Manager. This facility gained and retained an international reputation for extrusion excellence and outstanding quality and productivity.
Craig has always maintained extensive ties with the AEC, participating in all ET’s, many international technology tours, leading its Technical Services Committee and later joining the Board of Directors, being elevated to Vice Chairman and ultimately Chairman.
WES LLC
Craig's newest venture, Werner Extrusion Solutions LLC, utilizes the talents of Werner's finest Extrusion knowledge and personnel in Metallurgy, Modeling, Operations, Extrusion Tooling, Mechanical and Electrical/Controls Engineering to provide consulting services to extruders. The value of the consulting and implementation support is based around his team's proprietary extrusion optimization modeling software developed over 24 years, coupled with advisory and implementation subject matter experts groomed over the same period.
Werner Operations
In 1990 Craig took over full operation of the 650,000 sq.ft. Franklin Park facility as Plant Manager and later General Manager. This facility utilized one extrusion press, ten fiberglass pultruders, and a myriad of fabrication and ladder assembly equipment, with total employment between 800 and 950 associates. In 1999 Craig took over responsibilities for the similarly sized Anniston, Alabama Werner Co. division, and then in 2001 revamped a prior competitive ladder manufacturer's facility in Merced, California into a fully functional Werner Co. division. Throughout his career with Werner, Craig helped to lead the extrusion technology advancements and operations across the U.S. and Mexico, and provided support to licensees and other Werner associates worldwide.
Educational Background:
Craig graduated from Penn State in 1980 with a B.S. in Industrial and Management Systems Engineering and in 1982 earned his M.S. from Carnegie Mellon University in Industrial Administration. During his college years he held industrial and design engineering positions with Werner Co. and Alcoa. Craig joined Timken Company in 1982, helping them to design their new automated steel mill in Canton, Ohio.
