Fines doled out in Weirton Steel demolition

NEW YORK An Ohio court has fined Arthur David Sugar Sr. and several of his affiliated companies $850,000 for the improper demolition of the former Weirton Steel Corp. facility in Steubenville, Ohio, which resulted in asbestos contamination.
Sugar purchased the property from the former Weirton Steel, which filed for bankruptcy protection in 2003 (amm.com, May 19, 2003), with the intention of demolishing the facility for scrapping purposes. Demolition began in 2004, according to court documents.....
